Welfare & employability

Each year, our programmes positively impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of people by enabling access to vital Government support.

Creating better outcomes for citizens with tailored and regionalised solutions.

As the UK emerges from the pandemic, ensuring the right support is available for those who need it most is a national priority. Working in partnership with Government, we have a strong track record of delivering welfare and employability programmes to some of society’s most vulnerable people.

Since 2012, Capita has partnered with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), in addition to the Department for Communities (DfC) in Northern Ireland. Our 1,000-strong team of qualified health professionals supports those with long-term health conditions and disabilities to deliver better outcomes for those who need them most.

We’re also tackling employment barriers head-on, especially those faced by young people and those with disabilities. Combining our expertise in recruitment, learning & development and digital technology with the know-how of our network of class-leading regional partners, Capita develops tailored programmes to give jobseekers the skills and support they need to get back into work.

Our services

Welfare

Our expert health professionals assess how an individual’s conditions affect their daily lives and provide advice to our clients at Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Communities (DfC).

At the beginning of 2020 we were conducting an average of 30,000 assessments per month, 90% of which were face-to-face (F2F). When the Government suspended F2F assessments due to the coronavirus pandemic, we quickly transformed to continue our services remotely. Within one week, we transitioned to telephone assessments, enabling claimants to be safely assessed without delay.

Employability

After a life-changing year, getting people back into work will have huge economical and social benefits. But matching jobseekers to jobs is time-consuming and costly, especially once people have been unemployed for longer periods of time.

Capita has a strong understanding of the employment and skills challenge and extensive experience delivering and designing digital services that support diverse groups of vulnerable people.

Our tailored and regionalised programmes are helping jobseekers transition from unemployment and into growing sectors of the UK economy.

We’re also providing access to specialist teams and resources that will improve jobseekers’ knowledge, skills and confidence. Users benefit from interview and CV coaching, along with digital portals containing online courses, a CV builder, a live job feed linked to their CV and a personalised action plan to track their progress.

In January 2021, we launched the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) scheme in Scotland on behalf of DWP, with over 500 jobseekers registering on the first day!
